I don't understand the text - should black cut at (2), or should he do something else, and if so what? The text suggests that the black cut at (2) is bad!
Given the sequence (1-3), a black play at (A)would seem to me to be a very strong move resulting in atari which MUST be answered and which gives Black the sente.
