Mount Emei

Mount Emei is one of the four most famous Buddhist mountains in China. According to the legend, this was the place where Pu Xian Buddha resided. 'Emei' means 'girl's eyebrows', and from far, the two mountain-tops of Emei do look like eyebrows. This was how Mount Emei got its name. The scenery on the mountain is beautiful, with thousands of interesting rock formations. Mount Emei is 3098 meters in height. The top of the mountain extends above the clouds. From there, one can see thousands of miles away. On a cloudy day, standing above a cloud of sea, gives one a feeling of immortality.

Mount Emei has a lot of precipitation all year round, therefore, the entire mountain is full of forest. There are about 3500 spieces of plants on mountain, and out of that, 107 can be found exclusively on Mount Emei. There are over 2000 spieces of animals, in particular, the Emei monkeys are most intriguing.
