    Zhang Xun

    Zhang Xun

Zhang Xun tried to bring back the Qing Dynasty.
At one point, dragon flags (a symbol of imperialism)
can be found on the streets of China everywhere.

A native of Jiang Xi, Zhang joined the army to protect his country. He became the governor of Jiang Xi and Jiang Nan during the Qing Dynasty. When the Qing Dynasty ended in 1911, Zhang assumed the duty of the Commander of the army in Jiang Su under the Zhong Hua Ming Guo government. Zhang was also the Diplomatic Representative of Chang Jiang and he resided in Xu Zhou. In 1917, Zhang held the Xu Zhou Conference and suddenly led his army into Beijing, the capital. He attempted to crown Xuan Tong, the last Emperor of the late Qing Dynasty as king. Zhang was defeated by Duan Qirui and was never to surface again in the political scene.
