    Liu Bei

Liu Bei was a native of Zhuo Jun. He was a descendent of Prince Zhong Shan, Liu Sheng, a son of Emperor Han Jing Di. Liu crowned himself as the Emperor of Shu during the Three Kingdoms. At the end of Donghan Dynasty, Liu was made the judge of Anhe, because of his contribution in settling the Yellow Scarf Rebels. Trying to punish Cao Cao for seizing power from the Emperor, Liu failed and fled. He paid three visits to Zhuge Kongming, who was touched by Lius sincerity and agreed to help him. With Zhuges help, Liu and Sun Quan defeated Cao Cao in the Battle of the Red Cliff (Chibi), and seized Yizhou and Hanzhong, proclaiming himself as Han Zhong Wang. In 221 A.D., Liu became Emperor of Chengdu and named his kingdom Han. In failing to defeat Sun Quan in his expedition to the east, Liu retreated to Beidi City and died there at the age of 62. Lius son took over the throne and named his father Emperor Han Zhao Lie, known as Liu Xian Di.
